Technology has made great strides in the construction industry and Read has made every effort to stay on the cutting edge.  Keeping with this tradition, we have embraced the technology of Global Positioning Satellites on the job site.  Topcon, the leading corporation in GPS, has worked together with Agtek, a leader in the earthwork software industry, to complete a package that ties together survey data and estimating information.  This program operates in a 3D environment utilizing the engineer's CAD information and coordinate system. GPS has many different uses on the job site:

  • verify topography
  • quantify stockpiles
  • compute progress topos
  • measure undercuts

 

These can be performed in the field producing quick and accurate information without having to transfer data through the office.  In addition, we are able to set and grade stakes accurately and efficiently.

 

Finally, when it comes down to fine grading a job site, Read brings in GPS equipped dozers capable of grading to within hundredths of our tolerance.
